The Dahua XVR1B08-I is an 8-channel Penta-brid digital video recorder (DVR) designed for robust and flexible video surveillance in residential, commercial, and small-to-medium business environments. This recorder is part of Dahua’s Cooper series and is built around an embedded Linux operating system with an industrial-grade processor that ensures stable and efficient performance for continuous 24/7 security monitoring.

One of the most notable strengths of the XVR1B08-I is its Penta-brid camera support, allowing the unit to accept multiple types of video input formats — HDCVI, AHD, TVI, CVBS, and IP cameras — without requiring separate converters. This makes it highly adaptable to both legacy analog systems and newer IP camera deployments.

The DVR supports up to 8 analog camera channels and up to 10 IP camera inputs, with each IP channel capable of handling resolutions up to 6 megapixels and a total incoming bandwidth of 40 Mbps. High-quality video recordings are achieved using AI Coding and advanced video compression technologies (H.265+, H.265, H.264+, H.264), which significantly reduce storage needs and network bandwidth while maintaining clear, detailed footage.

Smart recording features include SMD Plus (Smart Motion Detection Plus) for selected channels, which uses AI-based analysis to filter false alarms and trigger alerts only for human and vehicle motion, improving monitoring accuracy and reducing unnecessary alerts.

Recording resolutions supported include 1080N, 720p, 960H, D1, and CIF, giving flexibility in balancing video quality and storage use. The recorder offers a full suite of recording modes — manual, scheduled (continuous), motion detection, alarm, and stop — with customizable record intervals and pre/post-recording settings.

For display and monitoring, the unit provides HDMI and VGA outputs capable of up to 1080p resolution, and multi-screen display options including 1/4/8/9 channels (and up to 16 with IP extension enabled). Playback and search functions are intuitive, with options such as time/date search, motion-based search, and exact frame search, plus fast/slow play controls and digital zoom.

Remote access is supported via network connectivity (TCP/IP, HTTP, RTSP, and other standard protocols) allowing live view, playback, and configuration through PC software or Dahua mobile applications. Backup options include USB devices and network export.

The XVR1B08-I is equipped with a 1 SATA interface for internal hard drive installation supporting up to 6 TB of storage, ensuring sufficient capacity for extended recording retention.
